Working Parties on New Lakes at Datchet

There will be two working parties on our new lakes - on Saturday 6th December and Sunday 7th December starting at 9.00am and finishing at 1.00pm.

During those days we will be removing a number of trees around the lakes to open up areas for swims to be built and we would like as many members as possible to attend and help us to clear away these trees once they have been removed and also make the site neat and tidy.

Those members who attend the working parties on these waters will be given the opportunity to fish them before they are open to the rest of the members once the swims have been prepared and are ready to use.

The address of the lakes is Mill Place - off Horton Road - Datchet.

You will find the entrance gate about 50 yards down Mill Place where there will be someone at the gate to direct you to the car park.

28th October

Water Closure

The Bottom Pond at Hitcham will be closed for periods of 48 hours between 1st November and 30th November to enable essential work and repairs to be carried out at the venue. There will be a notice on the gate stating when these closures will take place.

1st September

New Waters Up-Date

The lease on the two new lakes at Datchet has now been signed. Within the next few weeks (weather permitting) we will be starting work there to prepare the lakes for fishing and the first task will be to build a car park on the site. At the moment there is no parking near the lakes so once the car park is open we will produce another up-date for the members.

4th June

GUEST TICKETS

With immediate affect we will no longer be offering members the opportunity to purchase Guest Tickets for our stillwaters. Day tickets can still be purchased on the bank at our River Thames venues.

KEEPNETS

The rule regarding the use of keepnets placed on this website on 12th August has now been removed and they can now be used on our waters as long as they are the correct type as specified in our Rule book.

26th September 2006

COLNBROOK LAKES

In order to help prevent further problems with overfeeding on the Back Lake the following rule has now been introduced and will also apply to the Front Lake.

RULE CHANGE

THE USE OF SPODS AND SPODDING OF BAITS ON BOTH LAKES IS STRICTLY PROHIBITED AT ALL TIMES

ANY MEMBER FOUND BREAKING THE ABOVE RULE WILL LOSE THEIR PERMIT

THIS RULE HAS BEEN BROUGHT IN TO HELP MAINTAIN THE CORRECT PH VALUE AND AMMONIA CONTENT FOR THE LAKES. WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED THAT THE MAIN CAUSE OF HIGH PH AND AMMONIA LEVELS IN OUR WATERS IS DUE TO THE LARGE AMOUNT OF BAIT ROTTING ON THE BOTTOM OF THE LAKES BEING CAUSED BY MEMBERS PRE-BAITING THEIR SWIMS WITH EXCESSIVE AMOUNTS OF BAIT.

All other methods of feeding a swim are allowed as long as they are within Club Rules on both lakes eg. stringers and pva bags. There is no loose feeding of boilies allowed on either lake. We will continue to monitor the water quality levels of both lakes and if there are any further problems caused by excessive baiting then we will re-introduce the single bait only rule.

WAPSEYS LAKE

The car park is now open and in use for all those members who have requested details. (See 12th August for more information).

MEMBERSHIP FOR SEASON 2006 / 2007

Membership for this season will close on 1st October and we will no longer be accepting membership renewals or new member applications.

COLNBROOK PORTA-LOOS

It is our intention to have the porta-loos cleaned out on a more regular basis but we have a problem in so much as we no longer have anyone available when they are due to be emptied and cleaned. We are therefore asking if any members would like to volunteer to assist us when they need attention. All this would involve is letting the tanker on to the site and helping them if required. This may involve a day on the lakes as we cannot give an actual time for the visit. Should we be unable to find anyone willing to assist us then we will have no alternative but to remove them from the site.

Any member or members willing to help us out just need to contact us and we will take it from there.

28th August 2006

WAPSEYS LAKE

We are looking to open the new car parking facility at Wapseys during the week commencing Monday 4th September. As previously stated members who wish to use this car park must write in to us and request details. (See 12th August for more information).

COLNBROOK BACK LAKE

The Back Lake will be open on Wednesday 30th August but with an important rule change which is shown below. The reason why this rule was introduced is also shown and in order to help prevent similar problems will be rigorously enforced at all times.

RULE CHANGE –BACK LAKE

ONLY SINGLE BAITS CAN BE USED ON THIS WATER

THE USE OF PVA BAGS AND STRINGERS TOGETHER WITH SPODDING ARE NOW STRICTLY PROHIBITED AT ALL TIMES

ANY MEMBER FOUND BREAKING THE ABOVE RULE WILL LOSE THEIR PERMIT

THIS RULE HAS BEEN BROUGHT IN TO HELP MAINTAIN THE CORRECT PH VALUE FOR THE LAKE. WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED THAT THE MAIN CAUSE OF HIGH PH IN OUR WATER IS DUE TO THE LARGE AMOUNT OF BAIT ROTTING ON THE BOTTOM OF THE LAKE WHICH IS BEING CAUSED BY MEMBERS PRE-BAITING THEIR SWIMS WITH EXCESSIVE AMOUNTS OF BAIT.

12th August 2006

COLNBROOK BACK LAKE

Due to an outbreak of toxic blue-green algea the Back Lake is closed until further notice. Details of when the water is open again will be found in both this Club News section and also on the Members Forum.

KEEPNETS AND GROUNDBAITING

Due to the continuing dry weather the use of keepnets on our waters is now banned except in organised and booked matches.

The use of groundbait is also banned except when used with a swimfeeder or method feeder.

The above have been advised by the EA to help prevent any problems we may have during the current dry spell and all members were informed in their March newsletter that the above rules may have to be brought in.

MEMBERS FORUM

Over the last few months our Forum has had problems with unwanted guests who closed the Forum down. We have now re-introduced the Forum but in a new format. The problem with this is that we were unable to transfer any of the information from the old one to this new one. So not only were all the postings lost but also all the memberlist. This means that in order to place a posting on the new site you need to re-register.

At the moment there is very little activity on there with very few members registered compared to the last one. Therefore if the Forum continues to be underused then should there be any problems in the future we will have no option but to close it down.

USE IT OR LOSE IT

NATIONAL ANGLING WEEK

Once again we are hosting one of the events at Hitcham on Friday 25th August. This of course means that the fishery will be closed that day.

The number of the combination lock on the gate to the car park has changed. The new number of the lock is the number given to you in your newsletter minus 4616. The number was changed after telling us it would be the same as the one we gave you.

WAPSEYS LAKE

We are now able to offer alternative parking arrangements for those members fishing Wapseys in a more secure area behind a locked gate and off the main road. However there are a few restrictions which are listed below:-

1) We are on a six month trial so any problems we will lose it.

2) Parking is for a maximum of 15 cars at any one time.

3) Parking is in a certain area only.(There are no height or width restrictions).

4) You will need to display your JRS parking sticker at all times when using the car park.

5) We are only allowed to use these car parking facilities Monday to Saturday.

There is strictly no parking on a Sunday.

Should you wish to receive details of the location of the car park then you need to send the following details to us at the PO Box :- Your name - membership number - your car registration details together with a stamped addressed envelope (remember the new postal rates being introduced later this month(August) as we will not pay any excess postage on understamped envelopes).

Details will then be returned to you showing the location together with the various regulations regarding the use of the car park.

They have also donated the prizes for the overall winner and runners-up of the match series.

We are in the process of compiling a list of all the organisations and businesses who are kind enough to offer members of Intertype AS discounts on their goods and services. In time we will place this list in its own section on this website. BOTTOM POND GATE

A short while ago the Bottom Pond was closed for fishing for a number of weeks. The reason for this was due to the fact that the entrance gate was being left open on a number of occasions. Not only did this mean anyone could turn up and fish your waters but also meant the security of the whole site was at risk. This was picked up by the landowners who also saw the gate left open on a number of occasions and to put it mildly were not very happy. Something had to be done and it was decided that given the choice between upsetting our landlords or upsetting our members then we had to choose the latter.

Due to the success of this operation in focusing the minds of your fellow members that gates must not be left open it has been decided that should we have any further problems with gates being left open on ANY of our waters the same will apply. The waters will be closed for a period of time of which only one person will know. Notices will be posted on the gates stating the water is closed but not when it is open again.

The decision is yours. Do you want your waters closed because gates are being left open. If not then it might be a good idea to remind everyone who walks past you to close the gate even if they see a fellow member loading his car and think he will follow you out and close the gate.

This course of action was told to members present at previous AGM's. You have had enough warnings.
